Event: Zen Metro Launch Night, Birmingham

I was recently invited to the launch of Zen Metro in the Colmore Business District of Birmingham.

Ireti Akinroyeje

The revamped venue boasts a restaurant, a long bar serving Thai inspired cocktails alongside wine and beers, a private dining room for 20 and a faux cherry blossom tree right in the centre of the dining room. Zen Metro is on the old Metro Bar and Grill site.

Zen Metro put on an awesome launch party with cocktails, Prosecco and wine, and bite sized pieces from their delicious, new Thai menu flowing all night.

Our entertainment for the evening was a live saxophone player, a  DJ and Jas Sansi was there to capture all the moments with his fantastic photography skills. I’m slowly learning, a Brummie event is incomplete without Jas Sansi!

The hashtag and motto for the evening was #GetTheZenVibe and the launch party lived up to that. The hashtag trended on Twitter for the duration of the event, promoting Zen Metro whilst highlighting how popular the venue is and will hopefully become.

Bradasia Group’s Paul Bassi and Pawan Kenth took over the venue in 2015 and have since refurbished the site in the hopes of revitalising it, whilst still offering quality to their local business clientele and residents. It’s the same team behind the popular Asha’s Indian restaurant on Newhall Street, Birmingham.

“Diners can also enjoy a taste of what’s to come a Zen with the addition of a selection of dishes such as citrus and soy glazed black cod, and Muscovy duck breast, confit leg and pan fried foie gras in Asian spices.” – Pawan Kenth (Director of Brandasia)

Guests were treated to about 8 different canapes, but the following really stood out for me! Som Tum (a raw papaya and peanut salad), deep fried Thai garlic and chilli marinated chicken pieces and the shots of smoked sliced duck in a sweet tangy Sriracha sauce.

I saw cocktails such as a lemongrass and basil Martini and a bubbly Vanilla (vanilla vodka, butterscotch liqueur, vanilla extra topped with Prosecco) being served, but I did not sample any. I stuck to a couple of glasses of Prosecco for the evening.

It was a great evening to take in the beauty of the venue whilst sampling tasty Thai food fresh from the kitchen. It was also an opportunity to network and mingle with the clientele that Zen Metro attracts.  The canapes were very tasty and the service was warm and friendly. I’d be quick to go back for after work drinks and a meal.

Zen Metro and Delicious PR thank you for having me.

My writing, my honest views.
